Arcade Fire, Stars et Feist parmi les nominés pour le Shortlist Music Prize 2007

Les formations montréalaises Arcade Fire et Stars ainsi que la chanteuse canadienne Feist ont été mis en nomination en vue de la prochaine édition des Shortlist Music Prize qui se tiendra l'année prochaine.

Ce prix récompense les artistes musicaux pour leur créativité. Pour être éligible, il faut avoir fait paraître un album sur le territoire américain entre janvier et novembre 2007 et avoir vendu moins de 500 000 copies. 54 artistes ont été retenus pour cette première sélection parmi lesquels on retrouve également Against Me!, Bad Religion, Björk, Eddie Vedder, Kings of Leon, M.I.A, Peter Bjorn and John et The Hives.

Les dix finalistes et le gagnant de l'édition 2007 seront annoncés dans les premiers mois de 2007.

Le jury de cette édition est composé de Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Ronnie Vannucci (the Killers), le journaliste Rev. Moose (CMJ), le DJ radio Chris Douridas (KCRW) et les hôtes de Hunnypot Internet Radio.

Depuis sa création en 2001, le Shortlist Music Prize a couronné Sigur Ros, NERD, Damien Rice, TV on the Radio, Sufjan Stevens et Cat Power parmi ces gagnants.
