The Raconteurs, Yeah Yeah Yeahs et Beck parmis les pré-finalistes du Shortlist Music Prize

Après s'être brièvement appelé le Pantheon Music Prize, le Shortlist Music Prize est de retour pour sa sixième édition cette année.

Cette récompense annuelle est remise aux artistes musicaux pour leur créativité. Les artistes retenus pour le Shortlist Prize doivent avoir vendu moins de 500 000 copies de leur album paru au cours de la dernière année. Le prix comprend une bourse de 10 000$.

61 artistes ont été présélectionnés par un jury composé de Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Ronnie Vannucci (the Killers), Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall, Panic! at the Disco, Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips), Sufjan Stevens et les journalistes Toure (BET, Rolling Stone) et Rev. Moose (CMJ).

Parmi les artistes et groupes présélectionnés pour cette sixième édition mentionnons The Raconteurs («Broken Boy Soldiers»), The Strokes («First Impression of Earth»), TV on the Radio («Return to Cookie Mountain»), Yeah Yeah Yeahs («Show Your Bones»), Beck («The Information»), Cat Power («The Greatest»), etc.

De cette sélection, dix finalistes seront annoncés en avril prochain et le gagnant sera connu plus tard au printemps.

Les cinq premiers gagnants du Shortlist Music Prize étaient Sigur Ros, NERD, Damien Rice, TV on the Radio et Sufjan Stevens.
